MEGA rewarded for its first participation in the Bibendum Challenge organized by Michelin in Rio de Janeiro!

The Bibendum Challenge is a forum to resolve all the stakes in the multilateral sector of the sustainable road mobility. This international event combines tests and technical evaluations in demonstrations and driving test to determine the progress realized in vehicles, in energies and in technologies. The decision-makers as well as the opinion leaders of the public and private sectors estimate headways and future ways of the sustainable energy for a better mobility.

Michel Rollier, manager of the Group Michelin, inaugurated on Monday, May 31st, 2010 in Rio the 10th edition of the Bibendum Challenge, in the presence of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, president of Brazil, Sergio Cabral, governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro.

Medals rewarding the best performances were handed to the participants. MEGA, for its first participation in this international reference challenge, presented to the competition a production vehicle Mega Multitruck as well as Aixam Cup, our electric prototype with sports vocation.

The rally presented a flat urban course of approximately 85 km with about twenty of “stop and go” imposed. MEGA Multitruck and Aixam Cup went through this circuit without any difficulty. Tests of maneuverability, acceleration and measure of noise were also made.

Not less than 7 medals rewarded the performances of our vehicles.

During the evening which closed this day took place the prize-giving of the jury of Design which gathered personalities of the whole world, specialized in this domain. MEGA Multitruck so met under footlights by gaining the prize reserved for the category of the urban vehicles! The jury said they have been seduced by the practical aspects and the sympathy of Mega Multitruck, vehicle which the place in the panel of the urban mobility is completely justified.

The visitors were then able to drive and to test vehicles for two days.

Mega e-City was also exposed on the stand Aixam-Mega of the Technological Center of Riocentro.

The welcome of the press and the public demonstrated again that the choices of AIXAM-MEGA joined completely within the framework of the Sustainable development of which the Michelin Company was made here the ambassador.
